Description/Abstract: High dietary intake of protein can also exacerbate allergies and autoimmune diseases by aggravating the immune system. It is also possible for the body to find the deficient or missing amino acid in a meal from amino acids in the small intestine or those that naturally slough off the walls of the digestive tract. Phytochemicals are a recently discovered compound that shows the importance of eating a nutrient-dense whole foods diet, for it is inevitable that more nutrients are yet to be discovered. Lutein and zeaxanthin are protective of the eyes and help prevent macular degeneration and cataract formation; and lycopene lowers the risk of prostate cancer.
