Description/Abstract: New York CityÍs Performance-Driven Budgeting (PDB) initiative, introduced in 1997, generated a new element in school-based planning for instructional improvement, the explicit link between school-level budgeting and efforts to improve student and school performance. This evaluation examines the implementation of that initiative from its inception in 1997 through most of 2000.
