Queens education funds get $322 million boost

Description/Abstract: New York state lawmakers have included an increase in the amount of money given to New York City schools by $322 million in their first on-time budget in 20 years. A total of $24.6 billion was provided in the 2005-06 budget, an increase of $848 million in "formula driven and other educational assistance" to schools statewide, according to state Sen. Joseph Bruno (R-Rensselaer), the majority leader.
