Description/Abstract: Gov. Pataki vowed yesterday to challenge a court ruling tossing out the state's method for funding schools, saying his own remedy would give New York City its fair share of education spending. In proposing his $83.6 billion state budget for 2001-02, Pataki said he would increase the city's share of state education aid from 35% to 37%, the same as the proportion of the state's students in New York City schools. But, the governor urged, city officials should ante up as well.
