Description/Abstract: Live Stream: Community Colleges: America’s Best Kept Secret Is Out -- Now What?, with Jill Biden & discussants, Thursday, 11/17, 7pm
Please join us for the live stream of the keynote presentation by Dr. Jill Biden, Second Lady of the United States, and panel discussion among leaders in the field, as Teachers College celebrates, with President Susan Fuhrman and Professor Thomas Bailey, the impact and influence of Community College Research Center at a 20th anniversary event on Thursday, November 17, 2016, at 7pm, in the Joyce Cowin Center.
"From day one, the Obama-Biden Administration has valued community colleges as a catalyst for economic development and a cornerstone of upward mobility for all Americans. For the last seven years, Dr. Jill Biden, who continues to teach full-time as a community college professor, has used her unique role to lift up community colleges: America’s best kept secret. She will discuss why President Obama’s America’s College Promise and programs such as apprenticeships, dual enrollment, and articulation are not only the right thing to do for our students, but the smart thing to do for the future competitiveness of our country."
