Lori Custodero isAssistant Professor of Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Over 20 years experience with young children, parents, and teachers in a variety of musical settings has informed her research, which has focused on children from infancy through preadolescence, and adults as musicians, teachers, and parents. With a primary emphasis on experience in context, her research interests include musical challenge, engagement, and meaning in classrooms, playgrounds, and family settings. Her multi-disciplinary work is situated in the intersection of general childhood study and musical experiences, and in the mutuality of research and practice.
