ZhaoHong Han (Ph.D., University of London) is Associate Professor of Linguistics and Education in the TESOL Program of the Department of Arts and Humanities at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research interests are in second language learnability and the interface of second language acquisition and second language teaching. Her articles have appeared in a variety of journals and books in applied linguistics and second language education. She is the author of Fossilization in Adult Second Language Acquisition (2004, Multilingual Matters) and co-editor (with Terence Odlin) of Studies of Fossilization in Second Language Acquisition (2006, Multilingual Matters). She was the recipient of the 2003 International TESOL Heinle and Heinle Distinguished Research Award.
Dr Han's professional service includes: reviewer for TESOL and applied linguistics journals, Blackwell Publishers, Cambridge University Press, and the Spencer Foundation, member and AAAL (the American Association for Applied Linguistics) representative on the Editorial Panel of Applied Linguistics (Oxford), editor of Teachers College, Columbia University Working Papers in TESOL and Applied Linguistics, chair of the research interest section of TESOL (the US-based international education association for teachers of English to speakers of other languages), and consultant on teacher development grants and ESL/EFLprograms/curriculums/materials.
Dr. Han has lived and lectured in China, Italy, Norway, United Kingdom (Scotland, England), Japan, and Spain.
