Scholarly Interests
A Sociologist of Education, his research examines the influence of educational policies and practices on educational equity and access. Two strands comprise this work. The first focuses on high school reform in general, and the small-schools movement in particular. This winter, Teachers College Press will publish a book co-authored by Dr. Ready that examines the schools-within-schools high school reform. His second research strand employs large nationally-representative datasets and growth curve modeling within HLM frameworks to examine race and social class disparities in young children's cognitive growth.
